Windows Update service is disabled

What it means

The Windows Update service is turned off, so nothing can be installed.

Common causes

• A tweak tool or debloat script disabled the service

How to fix it

1. Open services.msc, find Windows Update, set Startup type to Manual and click Start.
2. Also start Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS).
3. If a tweak tool did this, undo it there so it does not switch off again.
