Another installation is already in progress

What it means

Windows Installer is busy with a different package, so the update cannot start until that one finishes or is cancelled.

Common causes

• An installer left running in the background
• A stuck Windows Installer service
• A pending reboot from an earlier install

How to fix it

1. Restart the PC and let any pending installation finish before starting the update again.
2. Check Task Manager for msiexec.exe and end it only if nothing is installing.
3. If it persists, run msiexec /unregister followed by msiexec /regserver in Terminal (Admin).
