Component store damaged

What it means

A file Windows Update needs is missing or damaged in the component store.

Common causes

• Damaged system files
• An interrupted earlier update

How to fix it

1. Run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth in Terminal (Admin), then sfc /scannow.
2. Reset the update cache: in Terminal (Admin) run net stop wuauserv, net stop bits, rename C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution to SoftwareDistribution.old, then net start wuauserv and net start bits.
3. Still failing: install the update manually from the Microsoft Update Catalog.
