What it means
Windows found the downloaded package but could not read it, so the install stopped before it began.
Common causes
- A partial download
- Disk errors in the package cache
- The package is signed for another architecture
How to fix it
- Cancel the install, clear the Store cache with
wsreset, then download again. - Check free space on C: and run
chkdsk C: /scan. - Install pending Windows updates; a broken App Installer can cause this.
- For a sideloaded .appx, make sure it matches x64 or ARM64 and that its certificate is trusted.
