The package could not be registered

What it means

The app downloaded but Windows could not register it for your account, so it never appears as installed.

Common causes

• A damaged per-user app repository
• A Store cache that is out of sync
• Antivirus or a policy blocking app installation

How to fix it

1. Run wsreset.exe, wait for the Store to reopen and try the install again.
2. Re-register the Store itself: run powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Command "Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers Microsoft.WindowsStore | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register \"$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml\"}".
3. Create a new local user account for a test; if the app installs there, the old profile's app data is damaged.
