No updates were found (WSUS)
What it means
Windows asked a WSUS server for updates and got nothing usable. On a home PC it usually means the update service needs a reset.
Common causes
- A work or school policy points at an unreachable WSUS server
- The update cache is stale
- Network or proxy blocks the server
How to fix it
- On a work PC, ask IT whether the WSUS server is reachable; do not remove the policy yourself.
- On a home PC, check that no WSUS policy is set with
gpresult /h report.html. - Reset the update cache: in Terminal (Admin) run
net stop wuauserv, net stop bits, renameC:\Windows\SoftwareDistributiontoSoftwareDistribution.old, thennet start wuauservandnet start bits. - Check the connection and try again after a restart.
