Access violation
What it means
A program tried to use memory it does not own and Windows stopped it.
Common causes
- A bug in the app or a mod
- Overlays and injectors
- Unstable RAM
How to fix it
- Update the program or game, and remove mods to test.
- Close overlays (Discord, Steam, MSI Afterburner, RivaTuner) and try again.
- Undo any overclock or undervolt, including XMP/EXPO memory profiles, and test at stock settings for a day.
- Test the RAM: run Windows Memory Diagnostic (search
mdsched) or MemTest86 from a USB stick. Any error means a stick or its speed setting is the problem.
