Bad image
What it means
A DLL or executable is damaged or built for another architecture, so Windows refuses to load it into the process.
Common causes
- A corrupted file
- A 32-bit DLL in a 64-bit program or the reverse
- An interrupted update
How to fix it
- Reinstall the app and its redistributables; do not copy DLLs from another PC.
- Run
sfc /scannowin case the damaged file is a Windows one. - Check that any manually installed DLL matches the program's architecture.
- If it started after an update, roll that update or driver back.
