Your PC needs to be repaired

What it means

Windows cannot load a file it needs to start, usually from a damaged boot configuration.

Common causes

• Damaged BCD or system files
• An interrupted update
• Disk errors

How to fix it

1. Run Startup Repair from the Recovery screen or a Windows USB stick.
2. From Command Prompt there, run chkdsk C: /f and bootrec /rebuildbcd.
3. Use System Restore or uninstall the latest update from Advanced options.
