What it means
Setup wanted to do an in-place upgrade, but the path it needs (keep files and apps) is not possible from this build or edition.
Common causes
- Upgrading from an edition that cannot keep apps (for example a change of language or architecture)
- Running setup from a mounted ISO while a different region or language is installed
- A broken upgrade history that confuses the migration engine
How to fix it
- Run setup from within Windows with the same language and architecture, not from a USB boot.
- If you have to change editions, note that a clean install is the supported route and back up your files first.
