Backup drive is not NTFS
File History cannot use this drive
What it means
File History only writes to NTFS volumes, so an exFAT, FAT32 or network drive is refused.
Common causes
- An exFAT drive formatted for both Windows and Mac
- A FAT32 USB stick
- A network share without the right permissions
How to fix it
- Use a different drive formatted as NTFS, or back up important files first and then format this one as NTFS.
- Do not format a drive that holds the only copy of your data.
- For a network drive, use a Windows share with write permission for your account.
- Use Duplicati if you need exFAT or cloud targets.
