BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO

What it means

The registry hive that holds the system configuration is damaged or cannot be read.

Common causes

• A damaged registry after a crash or power loss
• A failed update
• Disk errors

How to fix it

1. Open the Recovery screen (hold Shift while clicking Restart) > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
2. From the same menu, use System Restore to go back to a point before it started.
3. If you can open Command Prompt there, run chkdsk C: /f, then sfc /scannow /offbootdir=C:\ /offwindir=C:\Windows.
