What it means
The device's settings in the registry are damaged. DVD drives and USB devices show it most often.
Common causes
- Leftover filter drivers from old software
How to fix it
- Uninstall the device in Device Manager and restart.
- Uninstall software that came with the device (burning or audio tools), then restart.
- Use System Restore if it started recently.
