Code 2
The device driver could not be loaded
What it means
The driver file exists but Windows could not load it into memory, often because a dependency or its signature is missing.
Common causes
- A damaged driver package
- A missing dependency or runtime
- An unsigned or blocked driver
How to fix it
- Uninstall the device and install the current driver from the maker.
- Run
sfc /scannowin case a Windows dependency is damaged. - Check the driver signature: Windows 11 requires signed drivers unless test mode is on.
- If it started after an update, roll that driver back.
