D3D12.dll
D3D12.dll is missing
What it means
The program needs Direct3D 12, which only exists on Windows 10 and 11 with a current graphics driver.
Common causes
- An older Windows version
- A very old GPU or driver without DirectX 12 support
- A damaged DirectX install
How to fix it
- Check
dxdiag: the feature levels must include 12_0 or higher. - Remove the old graphics driver with DDU in Safe Mode, then install the current driver from NVIDIA, AMD or Intel directly.
- Install pending Windows updates; DirectX 12 ships with Windows.
- If the GPU does not support DirectX 12, the game cannot run on it; there is no DLL that fixes that.
