HYPERVISOR_ERROR
What it means
The Windows hypervisor (used by Hyper-V, WSL, Memory Integrity and some anti-cheats) crashed.
Common causes
- Unstable CPU or RAM overclock
- Old BIOS with virtualization bugs
- Conflicts between virtualization tools
How to fix it
- Undo any overclock or undervolt, including XMP/EXPO memory profiles, and test at stock settings for a day.
- Update the motherboard BIOS if the maker lists a fix for virtualization.
- Uninstall old VirtualBox or VMware versions you no longer use.
- Test the RAM: run Windows Memory Diagnostic (search
mdsched) or MemTest86 from a USB stick. Any error means a stick or its speed setting is the problem.
