Error codes

Minecraft exit code 1

Game crashed

What it means

Minecraft Java closed with a generic error. Mods, Java versions and graphics drivers are the usual reasons.

Common causes

• Broken or mismatched mods
• Wrong Java version
• Old graphics driver

How to fix it

1. Remove mods and test vanilla first.
2. Let the launcher use its bundled Java (do not force an old one).
3. Update the graphics driver.
4. Read the crash report in .minecraft\crash-reports for the mod it names.
