NMI_HARDWARE_FAILURE
What it means
The hardware raised an emergency signal. It points at RAM, the board or the power supply.
Common causes
- Faulty RAM
- Unstable power
- A failing expansion card
How to fix it
- Test the RAM: run Windows Memory Diagnostic (search
mdsched) or MemTest86 from a USB stick. Any error means a stick or its speed setting is the problem. - Undo any overclock or undervolt, including XMP/EXPO memory profiles, and test at stock settings for a day.
- Reseat RAM and expansion cards with the PC unplugged.
- Test with another power supply if you can.
