NVMe drive not detected
BIOS or Windows cannot see the SSD
What it means
The M.2 drive is not appearing where it should, either because of the slot, the firmware or the drive itself.
Common causes
- The drive is not seated in the M.2 slot
- The slot shares lanes with SATA ports
- The drive needs a BIOS setting or is faulty
How to fix it
- Power off, remove the drive and reseat it at an angle until the screw lines up.
- Check the board manual for M.2 slot sharing; move a SATA cable if the slot is shared.
- In the BIOS, set the storage mode to AHCI and look for the drive in the NVMe list.
- Test the drive in another M.2 slot or PC before returning it.
