Office installation failed
What it means
The Office installer stopped before finishing, usually because an older Office or a leftover component is in the way.
Common causes
- An old Office version still installed
- A failed earlier install
- Antivirus or a proxy blocking the download
How to fix it
- Uninstall every old Office version, including click-to-run leftovers.
- Run the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant for Office installs.
- Free space on C:, turn off the VPN and retry with a stable connection.
- Use the offline installer if the online one keeps failing.
