PDC_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT
What it means
A driver held on to the CPU while the machine was entering or leaving sleep or hibernate, so the power manager gave up and crashed.
Common causes
- An outdated storage, network or graphics driver
- A fast startup or hybrid sleep setting the firmware handles badly
- Virtualisation software interfering with power states
How to fix it
- In Terminal (Admin) run
powercfg /h off, restart, then sleep and wake the PC to see whether it still crashes. - Update the graphics, chipset and network drivers from the maker's site (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel or your board vendor), not from a driver-updater tool.
- Remove external USB devices and docks before sleeping to confirm whether one of them is the trigger.
