Paper jam
The printer reports a jam
What it means
A sensor still sees paper or the feed rollers cannot move it, even when the tray looks empty.
Common causes
- A scrap of paper behind the tray
- Worn or dirty rollers
- A sensor flag stuck in the paper path
How to fix it
- Read the printer's display for the tray or door it names and open only that path.
- Remove paper gently in the direction it feeds; pulling backwards tears it.
- Check the rear access door and the duplex unit for a second sheet.
- Clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth and power-cycle the printer.
