Secure Boot is off
Windows 11 and some games require it
What it means
Secure Boot checks that the boot loader is signed before Windows starts. Without it, Windows 11 upgrades and some anti-cheat systems refuse to run.
Common causes
- Secure Boot disabled in the BIOS
- The PC still boots in legacy/CSM mode
- Secure Boot keys were cleared
How to fix it
- Open
msinfo32and check BIOS mode: it must say UEFI, and Secure Boot State must be On. - In the BIOS, disable CSM/legacy boot, enable Secure Boot and load the factory keys (Restore Factory Keys).
- Save, restart and check
msinfo32again. - If Windows no longer boots after the switch, convert the disk with
mbr2gptfrom a Windows USB or switch back to CSM.
