SECURE_KERNEL_ERROR

What it means

The protected part of the kernel used by Memory Integrity and other virtualization-based security crashed.

Common causes

• Drivers that are not compatible with Memory Integrity
• Old BIOS

How to fix it

1. Check Windows Security > Device security > Core isolation for drivers it lists as incompatible and update them.
2. Update the BIOS if the maker lists a fix.
3. Open the crash dump in WhoCrashed or BlueScreenView: it usually names the driver file that caused it (for example nvlddmkm.sys is the NVIDIA driver).
