TIMER_OR_DPC_INVALID
What it means
A driver queued a timer or a deferred call with data the kernel rejects, so the scheduler stopped the machine.
Common causes
- An outdated audio, network or chipset driver
- A driver from a virtual machine or emulator tool
- A BIOS with broken timer settings
How to fix it
- Open the crash dump in WhoCrashed or BlueScreenView: it usually names the driver file that caused it (for example
nvlddmkm.sysis the NVIDIA driver). - Update the graphics, chipset and network drivers from the maker's site (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel or your board vendor), not from a driver-updater tool.
- Remove virtualisation and emulator drivers you no longer use, then retest.
