What it means
The display driver could not start at boot, which happens before the desktop exists, so the screen stops on the blue page instead.
Common causes
- A broken or half-installed graphics driver
- A GPU that is not seated or not getting power
- A second monitor or adaptor the driver misreads at boot
How to fix it
- Start in Safe Mode, then remove the graphics driver with DDU and install a fresh copy.
- Reseat the GPU and check that every power cable is plugged in.
- Unplug extra displays and adaptors and boot with one screen only.
