The shadow copy could not be created
What it means
VSS reached the provider but the snapshot itself failed, usually because the volume is full or the disk is slow.
Common causes
- Too little free space on the source or target volume
- A failing drive
- A backup tool holding an old snapshot
How to fix it
- Free space on both volumes; snapshots need room to grow.
- Delete old restore points with Disk Cleanup, then retry.
- Check the drive's health in CrystalDiskInfo. A Caution or Bad status means back up now and replace the drive.
- Restart the PC to release orphaned snapshots and try again.
