Windows error 1722

RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE

What it means

The program tried to use a Windows service or remote computer through RPC and could not reach it.

Common causes

• The RPC or target service is stopped
• A firewall blocks port 135 or the dynamic range
• DNS or the network name is wrong

How to fix it

1. Check that the Remote Procedure Call services are running in services.msc.
2. Restart the target service or the PC the operation talks to.
3. Allow RPC through the firewall on a private network.
4. Run sfc /scannow if many RPC calls fail at once.
