RPC_S_CALL_FAILED

What it means

The RPC connection was established and then failed while the call was running, so the result never arrived.

Common causes

• The remote service crashed
• A network drop or VPN restart
• A firewall closing the dynamic ports

How to fix it

1. Retry once; a transient network drop is the most common cause.
2. Restart the service or PC on the other end of the call.
3. Keep the VPN stable or use a wired connection for the operation.
4. Run netsh winsock reset and ipconfig /flushdns in Terminal (Admin), then restart the PC.
