Install Equalizer APO on the right device
Run the installer and tick **only the headphone output** in the Configurator, then reboot. Ticking the wrong device either corrects your speakers as well or does nothing at all.
Load an AutoEQ or oratory1990 profile, set the preamp so the loudest boost still fits and keep the correction on the headphones only.
Install **Equalizer APO** on the headphone output only, drop the **preamp** by the size of the biggest boost, then load a measured correction curve. Skipping the preamp is what makes EQ clip.
Run the installer and tick **only the headphone output** in the Configurator, then reboot. Ticking the wrong device either corrects your speakers as well or does nothing at all.
Install Peace, point it at the same device and keep the default sample rate of the headphone output.
In Peace open **Import** and load an AutoEQ or oratory1990 parametric file for your model. The bands appear as sliders; the curve is what a measurement rig actually heard.
Find the largest positive gain in the profile and set **Preamp** to the negative of it. A +6 dB bass shelf means a -6 dB preamp.
Largest boost: +6.0 dB
Preamp: -6.0 dB
Play a 20 Hz to 20 kHz tone sweep at a moderate level. No crackle, no hole, no channel imbalance. If it distorts only on loud tracks, lower the preamp another 2 dB.
Save the configuration in Peace and name it after the headphone. Switching between models is then one click instead of re-importing curves.
Re-run the Configurator, tick the correct output device and reboot. Check that Peace writes the config file the APO reads.
Set the device to 48 kHz/24 bit in Windows and keep boosts under +10 dB; the preamp has to cover the rest.
The APO got unregistered. Run the Equalizer APO installer again and re-tick the device.
Done with a preamp it corrects peaks. Done without one it clips, which is far worse.
Yes, with a per-channel config. Room correction needs measurements, not a generic curve.
Press reset in Peace, or re-run the Equalizer APO Configurator and untick the device. Uninstalling both removes the APO completely.
