Confirm Night Light works manually
Open **Settings > System > Display > Night light** and toggle it on. If the screen warms, the feature itself works and the problem is the scheduler.
Night Light fails to activate on schedule when location services are off or the CloudStore registry cache is corrupt. Reset both in four steps.
Night Light scheduling breaks when **location services** are disabled or the **CloudStore registry cache** is corrupted. Re-enable location and delete the Night Light registry keys to reset the schedule.
Open **Settings > System > Display > Night light** and toggle it on. If the screen warms, the feature itself works and the problem is the scheduler.
Go to **Settings > Privacy & security > Location** and turn on **Location services**. Night Light uses your location to calculate sunset and sunrise times for the automatic schedule.
The CloudStore cache that stores Night Light state can become corrupted. Open **Terminal** as administrator and run the commands below to delete the cached keys, then restart your PC.
reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\CloudStore\Store\DefaultAccount\Current\default$windows.data.bluelightreduction.bluelightreductionstate" /f
reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\CloudStore\Store\DefaultAccount\Current\default$windows.data.bluelightreduction.settings" /f
After restarting, open **Settings > System > Display > Night light** and set up the schedule again. Wait for the scheduled time or temporarily set the activation time to a few minutes from now to confirm it triggers.
Delete the registry keys from step 3 and restart. The stuck state is stored in the CloudStore cache and will be cleared.
Your time zone is incorrect or location services are returning a stale location. Check **Settings > Time & language > Date & time** and ensure **Set time zone automatically** is on.
Yes. In **Night light settings**, change **Schedule** to **Set hours** and enter your preferred start and end times manually.
Yes. Disable it when doing photo or video editing. You can add a quick toggle to the Action Center for easy switching.
The registry deletion in step 3 is the main change. Windows recreates the CloudStore keys automatically on the next Night Light toggle. To fully revert, turn off Night Light in **Settings > System > Display > Night light**.
