Start from the Canary build
The stable branch lags behind on compatibility and patches. Canary is where fixes for individual titles land first, and it is the build the compatibility lists refer to.
Xenia is the only practical way to run 360 titles on a PC, and it is picky: the build, the GPU backend and the per-game patches decide whether a title boots.
Use the **Canary build**, set **Vulkan** on current drivers, enable the **per-game patches** you need and keep a **separate content folder**. Many titles run; several do not, and that is not a setup mistake.

Vulkan is the faster path on modern drivers; Direct3D 12 is the fallback when a title has a Vulkan-specific glitch. Change one title at a time and note what you changed.
Config > Graphics > API
Patches unlock frame rate caps, fix crashes and raise the internal resolution. They are per title and per version, so apply them from the game's own patch menu instead of the global list.
Right-click the game > Patches
Point it at one directory and let it list the games. ISO and XEX files both work; a container format the emulator does not read is the most common reason a title never appears.
File > Open > Set game directory
Internal resolution scaling is safe and cheap. Frame rate patches can break physics and timing in games that assume 30 frames, so enable them only when the title is known to tolerate it.
Config > Graphics > Resolution scale
Check the community list for the exact build and region before you spend an evening on a title. A game that is marked as ingame may boot and still be unplayable past the first level.
Try the other graphics backend and disable the resolution patch. Cutscene paths hit different code.
The aspect ratio setting does not match the title. Use the game's native ratio rather than the window ratio.
The file format is not supported, or the game needs a patch that is not enabled. Check the log window.
A timing issue in this build. Try the other backend; audio sync is one of the first things a new build fixes or breaks.
No. Xenia does not require a firmware dump, unlike most other emulators.
No. Compatibility is per title and per build; check the list before you plan an evening around one game.
Delete the per-game config files you created and the emulator returns to defaults. Your game files are untouched.
