Install and add the game folder
Extract Dolphin outside Program Files and start it. Open **Config > Paths > Add** and point at the folder holding your dumps - the game list fills automatically.
Install Dolphin, point it at your own game dumps, pick Vulkan and use hybrid ubershaders so new areas do not stutter on first visit.
Use the **Vulkan** backend with **hybrid ubershaders**, set **2x native** resolution for 1080p output, and keep game-specific fixes in per-game settings instead of changing the global profile.
Extract Dolphin outside Program Files and start it. Open **Config > Paths > Add** and point at the folder holding your dumps - the game list fills automatically.
Open **Graphics > General** and set **Backend** to Vulkan. Use D3D12 if Vulkan crashes on an older driver, OpenGL only as a diagnostic step.
Backend: Vulkan
In the same page set **Shader Compilation** to **Hybrid**. New effects are then compiled in the background on the GPU instead of blocking the frame.
Shader Compilation: Hybrid
On **Enhancements** set **Internal Resolution** to 2x native (720p) for 1080p output, **Anisotropic Filtering** to 4x and leave **Scaled EFB Copy** enabled. Keep anti-aliasing at 1x until you have frame time headroom.
Internal Resolution: 2x Native (1280x720)
Anisotropic Filtering: 4x
Anti-Aliasing: 1x
Open **Controllers**, set Port 1 to **GameCube Adapter for Wii U** for the official adapter or **Standard Controller** with SDL for a modern pad. For Wii Remotes enable **Continuous Scanning** so a remote can connect later.
Right-click the game and open **Properties**. Set aspect ratio, the widescreen hack only for titles that support 16:9, and the game-specific hacks there - never globally, they break other games.
The path points at the wrong level or the file is still zipped. Dolphin needs .iso, .gcm, .rvz or .wbfs files and scans subfolders itself.
Missing or outdated Vulkan driver. Switch to D3D12 once to confirm, then update the GPU driver.
Set the DSP emulation engine to **DSP HLE** and enable **Audio Stretching** in the audio settings.
Emulated Wiimote plus Classic Controller mapping is the reliable path. Passthrough needs a real Bluetooth adapter that supports it.
No. Dolphin is self-contained; PS1 and PS2 emulators are the ones that need one.
4x native needs a strong GPU. Start at 2x and raise it while frame times stay flat.
Close Dolphin, delete the program folder and the Documents\Dolphin Emulator folder. The dumps stay where they are and are not modified.
